Welcome Message from the 59th Regional Vice Chair
Dear MWBLSA,
I hope you are all well. My name is Daryn Rockett, and I am a fourth-year student in the J.D./M.S.W. Program at Washington University in St. Louis. I have the distinct pleasure of serving as your Regional Vice Chair this term.
For the past three years, BLSA has provided me with a range of meaningful experiences and a strong sense of community. It is incredibly meaningful to me that I have the opportunity to serve at the regional level. The theme for this year, S.T.R.E.N.G.T.H. (Standing Together to Rise, Empower, Nurture, Grow, and Thrive Harmoniously), alongside our mission to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community, will remain central as I work to strengthen this organization.
I am committed to working alongside my fellow leaders to cultivate professionally, academically, socially, culturally, and personally enriching experiences for our members. At a time when the policies and attitudes that inform sacred spaces like BLSA are under attack, it is important to me that we empower our members not only to access and succeed in law school but also to have the tools you need to meet this moment. Our knowledge and skills are powerful tools we can use to effectuate transformative change in our communities. It is my sincere hope that MWBLSA can be a forum for knowledge building and skill development.
I am committed to using my best efforts to ensure we are unified and that you all receive meaningful support. This goes for our pre-law students, current law students, and alums. Each of you play an essential role in making MWBLSA what it is, and I cannot wait to connect with you!
Best Wishes,
Daryn Rockett
